
Amman, July 15 (Petra) - On Monday, the National Center for Cybersecurity launched the national dialogue related to the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2028, under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernization, Nasser Al-Shraideh.
The dialogue included the announcement of the start of consultative sessions with stakeholders from government, private and academic institutions, to prepare the executive program related to the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2028.
During the dialogue, which was organized in the Royal Jordanian building, the National Center for Cybersecurity announced the vision of Jordanian cyberspace 2024-2028, which is “a safe, reliable, and resilient Jordanian cyberspace that relies on national capabilities and enhances the economy and societal well-being.” Four national strategic priorities will be worked on. Through which the government will work to achieve this vision: security and reliability, cyber resilience, cyber transformation, and cooperation and partnerships.
The head of the National Center for Cybersecurity, Engineer Bassam Al-Maharmeh, said, “This new strategy comes to enable national digital transformation plans and support the second of the eight economic growth engines in the economic modernization vision related to providing future services, as achieving these goals requires the availability of a secure digital environment.” It is reliable and attracts investments and enhances Jordan’s position as an oasis of security in a turbulent environment,” noting that the strategy targets individuals, government institutions, the critical infrastructure sector and the business sector.
The Center also announced the next steps for this dialogue, which include a series of consultative and interactive meetings with all stakeholders to begin developing an executive program for the national strategy for cybersecurity at the national level, in parallel with implementation with the governmental, private, security, and academic sectors.
Al-Shraida said that this strategy is very important to protect various sectors, especially since digital transformation is a top priority in the economic and administrative modernization visions.
Al-Shraida announced the establishment of a digital transformation unit in the Prime Minister’s Office concerned with providing the necessary framework and support for digital transformation processes, including cybersecurity and data protection, and confronting potential risks and threats during and after digital transformation, which requires a greater partnership between the public and private sectors.
In turn, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Royal Jordanian Airlines, Engineer Samer Al-Majali, said that our hosting of this dialogue comes out of our keenness to support national efforts and enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors, indicating that we believe that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and we are committed to our role in this field.
He added that the aviation sector is one of the most important sectors that require the highest levels of cybersecurity, and thanks to technological progress, aviation operations have become largely dependent on digital systems and connected networks, which highlights the importance of enhancing cybersecurity to ensure the sustainability and security of travelers, protect their data, and ensure continuity of operations.
For her part, President of the Jordanian Strategy Forum, Nisreen Barakat, expressed her pride in cooperating with the Center to launch this important strategy, stressing the Forum’s commitment to pursuing dialogue and presenting ideas to strengthen the cybersecurity system in Jordan.
She pointed out that the forum does not hesitate to provide all support to enhance dialogue and cooperation between various partners in order to improve Jordan’s competitiveness and security, especially in light of regional and global events and the rapid technological developments that the world is witnessing.
